Very Best In Seafood 2019

England’s Seafood FEAST

England’s Seafood Coast will play host to a feast for all the senses between 20th September and 6th October 2019.  For 2 weeks you will be able to immerse yourself in England’s Seafood

Brixham Fish Market is at the heart of England’s Seafood Coast.  It’s a good place to start your own personal Feast – take an early-morning tour of the only live fish auction in the country, followed by breakfast at Mitch Tonks’ Rockfish Restaurant next door.  This truly unique experience gives a new perspective on the fish on your plate – it is hugely popular so booking in advance is required.

Seafood to order

Of course a key part of England’s Seafood Feast is the opportunity to eat lots and lots of world-class fish.  The Coast’s best seafood restaurants are offering an array of set menus and events to tantalise your taste buds, all featuring Brixham seafood. There will be cookery workshops, wine tastings and coastal foraging. For 2 weeks you will be able to choose from a host of unique events, from morning til night if you so wish!  So whether your taste is for fish and chips overlooking the sea, or a 5-course seafood tasting menu, we’ve got it covered.

And so much more

In between meals (to help you build up an appetite…) you could take a trip on a heritage sailing trawler, go kayaking and paddle boarding, or take a trip on the steam train with its stunning views of the coast. Perhaps you’ll decide to feed penguins, otters or seals at Living Coasts, or see how early human species made the most of shellfish at Kents Cavern. There will be chances to go fishing (cooking and eating what you caught when you get back on dry land) or wild swimming.  Or maybe you’ll take a trip to Berry Head to take in the spectacular view across Torbay and watch the guillemots as they go off to fish. There will be sea-themed art exhibitions, installations and productions across the Bay. You’ll be spoilt for choice. I know at Ebb Tides Seaweeds   we will be following events

Delicious and Healthy Seaweeds Nourish the 7th Food Festival

The sixth Nourish Festival will take place on Saturday 31st August when Bovey Tracey will be overflowing with food, music and  craft events from 10 until 5. And Ebb Tides Seaweeds will be exhibiting with our local and exciting seaweeds

Our main street will be filled with great Westcountry food producers along with a mouth-watering selection of street food vendors – there’s no need to go hungry! So try our seaweeds.

mini- craft festival featuring some of the region’s best makers will take place in the Methodist Hall just around the corner on Le Mollay-Littry Way. And – I almost forgot to mention – the third Nourish Gin Festival will take place in and around the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery at the top of town.

While you’re up there, you’ll surely want to check out how Devon’s first whisky is progressing, and also see how the Bovey Paradiso team are getting on with their plan to create a cinema just across the road.

Musically, the festival kicks off on the evening of Friday 30th August with the Brodsky Quartet in the Parish Church, back for their fifth visit to Bovey Tracey.

At lunchtime on the main festival day – Saturday 31st – check out the amazing Meridianum Ensemble at the Baptist Church. You will absolutely love this exciting fusion of folk musics from across Europe, played on an amazing variety of instruments.

Don’t forget you can sample our seaweeds at our stall.

And finally the festival’s closing concert on the evening of Saturday 31st August is one of the best-loved and most admired British pianists: Martin Roscoe.

Check out our new Oishii range with botanical and seaweeds so delicious.

Presenting the best new work from selected Members of Devon Guild of Craftsmen

The Summer Show is the longest running Devon Guild exhibition, launched in 1955 to celebrate the skills and original work from long-standing Guild Members through to the newest faces.

A key event in the Guild’s exhibition calendar, Members use the opportunity either to present a truly iconic piece of their work or to create something new and experimental.

It’s an opportunity for visitors to enjoy a wide variety of contemporary craft and for the Guild to showcase the outstanding talent of their membership. This eclectic exhibition covers a vast range of mediums, including ceramics, textiles and print.

Bovey Tracey’s festival Nourish, launched in 2014, celebrates the very best in food, craft and music. Building upon the success of The Contemporary Craft Festival, held every June, the team behind Nourish are keen to bring a new flavour to Bovey Tracey. Set in the heart of the town, Nourish is a weekend of events designed to feed the body, the mind and the senses.

Nourish is a community initiative led by The Contemporary Craft Festival, Devon Guild of Craftsmen and The Cheese Shed.
